Leading the Way! Herricks Soars on Lists of Top Districts

The Herricks Public Schools has been ranked the 7th best school district in New York State by Niche.com out of more than 600 schools that were considered, moving up a spot since last year. When looking only at Long Island schools, Herricks was ranked No. 5.

Herricks was additionally ranked by Niche.com as No. 34 on a list of the 2019 Best School Districts in America – a significant jump from last year’s placement as No. 64.

According to Niche.com, the district achieved these rankings "by scoring highly on a variety of factors including SAT/ACT sores, student-teacher ratio, the quality of colleges that students consider and reviews from students and parents.” Herricks also placed at No. 5 on Niche’s list of Safest School Districts in New York out of 692 schools, and No. 13 on the list of Best Places to Teach in New York out of 688 schools.

“The District’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement is reflected in our latest Niche ranking,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Fino Celano. “It is gratifying that Herricks continues to be recognized as one of the finest school districts in the nation. Our success can be attributed to our outstanding students, talented faculty, supportive parents, and dedicated Board of Education. Three Top Elementary Schools for Herricks

 The Herricks Public Schools takes the top 25 with regard to elementary schools, as indicated on Niche.com’s recent list of the 2019 Best Public Elementary Schools in New York. Out of 2,467 public elementary schools in the state, Herricks takes No. 17, No. 22 and No. 25 for Denton Avenue School, Center Street School and Searingtown School, respectively.

All three buildings additionally received overall Niche grades of A plus, based on analyses of factors such as academics, teachers, culture and diversity and parent/student survey results.
