Herricks Public Schools are pleased to announce the progress of projects included in the bond referendum that was approved last school year. Phase 1, which involves work related to the high school track and field, as well as the installation of “smart locks” on all classroom doors throughout the district, is nearing completion and the district is preparing to enter the next stages.
The new all-purpose synthetic turf field at Herricks High School has been completed and is ready for use by our students, while the track will open for community use on Monday, May 21. Please be aware that the track will need to temporarily be closed again for a few days during the week of June 25, weather permitting, to allow for re-painting.
The district is excited to be launching Phase 2 of the bond work, which will take place this summer. It includes a new grandstand, press box and comfort station on the athletic field and renovations to the high school cafeteria and kitchen.
“Projects are moving forward as planned and we are very happy with the outcome of our beautiful new athletic field,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Fino Celano. “Thank you to the community for your understanding and patience while these facilities were closed for construction. We look forward to sharing more updates during and after the summer!”
