The annual Herricks Model United Nations Conference took place on May 24. In its 14th year running, the Herricks MUN club and MUN class spent months preparing for this conference, with this year being the largest turnout since its start. Over 200 students attended, including students from Wheatley, Uniondale, Clarke, Knox, and Manhasset High Schools. Students at the conference debated relevant issues such as the rights of the disabled, human trafficking, LGBT+ youth, freedom of the press, and disaster preparedness. This year, there was also a Magical Oversight Committee set in the Harry Potter Universe and two historical committees centered around Japanese modernization and the annexation of Hawaii.
Delegates had a fantastic time and are looking forward to HMUNC 2020 where there will be new committees and topics to debate!
