Herricks Musicians Take Prominent Awards at NYSSMA Majors

A number of talented Herricks students presented excellent performances at the 2017 Nassau County NYSSMA Major Ensemble festival, held from May 22-24 at Hofstra University. Thirteen of the district’s musical ensembles participated in this event, where they were evaluated by highly skilled adjudicators and received awards that reflected their efforts.

The students rose to the occasion and, well-prepared by their teachers, spent a great deal of time practicing prior to the competition. Their performances were met with remarks of immense praise and admiration from the judges, who are accomplished music educators from throughout New York State.
