A total of 163 Herricks High School students participated in the American Mathematics Competition 10/12 on February 6, 2017. AMC is the nation's leading math contest for high schoolers and is designed to cultivate the mathematical capabilities of the next generation of problem solvers.
Students who take the AMC 10/12 have the opportunity to develop creative quantitative thinking skills, which better prepares them to succeed in college math classes.
Alan Chen and Eish Maheshwari qualified for the next level of the competition, the American Invitational Mathematics Examination. Other high scores were earned by Andre Chen, Simon Liu, Andrew Rocco and Alicia Slavit.
The American Mathematics Competitions are conducted by the Mathematics Association of America with the goal of strengthening the mathematical capabilities of our nation’s youth. The competitions goal is to identify, recognize, and reward excellence in mathematics.
