2nd Place Win for Herricks HS Student at Concerto Competition

Herricks High School sophomore Christina Kim achieved a second-place win at the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition on Feb. 1. She earned the opportunity to perform at this event, held at the Congregational Church of Huntington in Centerport, after being named one of only 10 finalist selected from a pool of more than 50 applicants.

A violinist for many years, Christina has participated in All-County ensembles and the Long Island String Festival Association events multiple times. She is also a member of the Herricks High School Chamber Orchestra.

This was Christina’s first MYO Concerto Competition performance. She will receive a $200 prize for her award.

“Being selected from so many qualified musicians on Long Island is a huge honor for Christina and for Herricks,” said Director of Music and Performing Arts Anissa Arnold. “We are so proud of her.”
