Eleven Herricks students participate in LISFA Chamber Music Festival

On Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, seven musicians from Herricks High School and four from Herricks Middle School attended in the Long Island String Festival Association's Chamber Music Festival. Students were selected based on their exemplary recordings of pieces they performed in a rigorous audition process.

This prestigious event was held at Roslyn Middle School and featured members of the Bryant Park String Quartet. Students received coaching from these esteemed musicians throughout the day, which culminated with a public performance.

At the high school level, sophomores Julia Feldman, Grace Kang, Austin Kim, Christina Kim, Nicole Park and Alexandra Tan, as well as junior Esme Chen, participated in this opportunity. From the middle school, under the guidance of teacher Krista Weis, were eighth-graders Kyle Pinzon, Dara Bao, Justin Koe and Justin Yang.

The Herricks High School representatives comprised two ensembles — a Prokofiev Sonata for 2 Violins and a Schumann Piano Quintet. The middle school ensemble performed Elegie by Josef Werner, op. 21.
