Herricks students from Denton Avenue and Searingtown schools joined fourth-graders from throughout Nassau County at the 14th Annual Parents Educators And Kids (PEAK) festival, held at Molloy College on Nov. 19.
The event is sponsored by the Nassau Music Educators Association and featured a day of workshops for young musicians.
Teachers Jennifer Kiang and Briana Cangemi accompanied the Denton and Searingtown students, respectively. Attendees worked with various clinicians in three workshops and participated in dance activities, played boomwhackers, recorders and Australian rhythm sticks, sang a cappella and performed in a chorus.
Each year, this event aims to prepare students for futures as All-County musicians. The festival culminated in a concert for the parents and guests.
