Third grade recently studied the Caldecott Medal and learned how to be book illustration judges. They studied the illustrations of a selection of picture books centered on the theme, "be yourself!" Students then designed our Searingcott Medals. Out of the many entries, the talented artists chosen are featured in the photo. Our gold medal went to the book Spoon by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. This book is about a spoon that wishes he could be a fork or a knife, but soon learns that being just who he is is perfect!
