Scotties Pause for Health on Wellness Wednesday
Wellness Wednesday offers our Searingtown Scotties time to pause and prioritize self-care by focusing on different aspects of their physical and mental health.
Breathing techniques, stretching and yoga poses slow down minds and bodies to start the day in a calm and mindful way and keep thoughts in the present. Students are encouraged to talk about the benefits of caring for their bodies by staying hydrated, getting enough sleep and regular exercise, as well as how they can cope with big feelings by talking with someone, taking deep breaths and spending time outside in nature. Students are making the connection that when they are calm and grounded, they are better learners and see improvements in managing their emotions.
