HMS Hosts Collaborative Choral Concert

On March 19, Herricks Middle School hosted a collaborative choral concert featuring Hofstra University Chamber Choir, Herricks High School Chamber Choir, and Herricks Middle School Chamber Choir. This concert was the first stop on Hofstra's annual choir tour of the Northeast.

During the school day, the Hofstra's Choral Director, Dr. David Fryling spent time in rehearsals and workshops with choirs at the middle school directed by James Ludwig and high school directed by Louise O'Hanlon. Dr. Fryling is a highly sought-after clinician and currently serves as President of the American Choral Directors' Association.

Dr. Fryling said of the event, Spending an entire day with the singers from Herricks was wonderfully invigorating. These are serious musicians, all the way from the 6th graders in Herricks Middle School Chamber Choir to 12th graders in the high school choral program. It was a treat to get to work on nuanced and sophisticated musical ideas and hear the students' insights into the repertoire they were studying!
