For the second year in a row, 8th grader Kavya Patel has won the Herricks Middle School Spelling Bee! A close second place was Isabel Chiou who gave Kavya a run for her money! The winning word was "consensus." Some other favorite words that appeared this year: hurly-burly, ruffian, muttonchops, and rookery.

Please congratulate Kavya and Isabel on their tremendous performances. Kavya will take an online test on 2/7 in order to try to qualify for the regionals.  We wish her the best of luck!
