Musician Toby Walker Brings Captivating Blues Presentation to HMS

Last week, blues musician Toby Walker visited the eighth grade Social Studies classes for a series of presentations that featured musical performances intertwined with Walker's captivating storytelling style.

Through his guitars, music and personal anecdotes, Walker took students along on his journey to the South, where he immersed himself in the rich history of blues music and culture. During this time, he witnessed firsthand what life was like for African Americans living in the South and gained insight into how blues music evolved in response to their daily life experiences and those of their ancestors.

His presentation was both engaging and thought-provoking, offering our students a deeper understanding of racial issues and how blues music reflects African American history.
