On Nov. 7, Herricks High School students in English 12 had the honor to meet with local veterans and hear firsthand stories about their experience in the United States Armed Forces during wartime.
Veterans from World War II, Vietnam, and the Cold War spoke to our students in small groups and answered questions. Students learned about the sacrifices that are made by servicemembers and their families, the importance of service to our country and what it means to give back.
The students are grateful to each of the heroes who took time to join us and impart their wisdom and experience. As part of this project, students will now be reflecting on ways that they can be of service to their communities and our society in hopes of making the world a better place.
