Herricks Jazz Ensembles Shine at National Jazz Festival
On April 18, the rhythmic sounds of Herricks High School took over Philadelphia as musicians from our jazz program participated in the prestigious National Jazz Festival. The event served as a showcase for some of the most talented high school jazz ensembles on the East Coast.

Performance & Professional Feedback

The Herricks Blue Band and Herricks Vocal Jazz each delivered standout sets, performing for a panel of expert adjudicators. Our students had the unique opportunity to receive direct feedback from members of the US Army Jazz Ambassadors, providing them with professional insight into their technique and stage presence.

Student Spotlights

While the ensembles performed beautifully as a whole, two of our students received individual recognition for their exceptional talent.

Isabella Marzo and Joshua Mathew were both awarded medals for their outstanding work as solo improvisers.

Exploring Center City

Beyond the music, the trip offered students a chance to immerse themselves in the culture of Philadelphia. Between sets, the groups explored the historic Reading Terminal Market and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of Chinatown in the heart of Center City.

Congratulations to all our student-musicians for representing Herricks with such skill and passion!
