Herricks High School Literary Magazine Earns “Superior” Award
Herricks High School is proud to announce that Opus 67, the school’s student-run literary magazine, has earned a "Superior" rating from the National Council of Teachers of English Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) program for 2025.

Opus 67 features a wide range of creative work from the Herricks community, including poetry, short prose, essays, visual art and photography. Curated entirely by students, the magazine reflects their dedication to both writing and editing, producing a thoughtful and polished publication that celebrates young voices.

The NCTE REALM program recognizes outstanding student-produced literary magazines created with teacher guidance, highlighting creativity, literary skill and editorial excellence.

The district congratulates the editorial staff, student contributors and faculty advisor Alan Semerdjian. Semerdjian said, “The Opus 67 team worked tirelessly last school year to produce an exceptional journal showcasing the original creative work of our community. Receiving a ‘Superior’ rating from NCTE’s REALM program is a well-deserved recognition. Herricks is truly a home for young writers.”
