Beautiful works of art covered the hallways of Herricks High School at the 2024 Spring Arts Show on May 29. Students and families strolled through a vibrant display of over 250 pencil drawings, paintings in various medium, photography, media productions, ceramics, and other 3D art projects that were displayed throughout the high school’s lobby and hallways.
Guests had the opportunity to gather and learn about the works of the show by hearing from Herricks art teachers, Chris Brogan, Jennifer Cavalluzzo, Diana Evans, Doreen McDevitt, and Allyson Zebrowski.
Guest speaker and adjudicator was President of the Arts Supervisors Association Julia Lang-Shapiro. She is also Director of Media, Visual & Performing Arts for Long Beach Public Schools. Ms. Lang-Shapiro focused her discussion on the high level of artistry she observed while citing several examples from Herricks student work. She also designated Best in Show to Herricks seniors Gabby Cardone and Enya Chen, both students of Jennifer Cavalluzzo.
Teachers recognized Herricks graduating seniors in the Art department for their dedication to the Herricks art program and their contributions to art over the years and to underclassman for their commitment and passion for art as they continue their artistic journey. Herricks Director of Fine and Performing Arts Anissa Arnold shared, I am thrilled for the opportunity to honor Herricks artists for their passion and expertise in fine arts.
