Herricks Board of Education Honors Winter Athletic Champions

The Herricks Board of Education celebrated the remarkable accomplishments of several student-athletes during its meeting on April 16. The evening served as a tribute to the hard work, discipline and competitive spirit displayed by these individuals throughout the winter sports season.

Among those recognized was Aya Sophia Abdrabo, who secured the title of Nassau County Girls Wrestling Champion. Her victory marks a significant milestone for the program and highlights the growing strength of the district’s wrestling community.

In track and field, Kenneth Ramdayal was honored for his dominant performance in throwing events. Kenneth earned the distinction of being named the Nassau County Champion in both Shot Put and Weight Throw, showcasing exceptional strength and technique on the regional stage.

The Board also took time to applaud the excellence of the Herricks swimming program. Five student-athletes were celebrated for their roles in capturing Nassau County Swimming Championships: Matt Chang, Tyler Ip, Alvin Kim, Romeo Sanchez and Matt Simons. Their collective success in the pool continues the district’s long-standing tradition of aquatic excellence.

The district extends its pride and congratulations to these champions, their coaches and their families for representing Herricks with such distinction.
