  • The Guidance Center provides bilingual mental health and chemical dependency services, behavior management, parent education, medication management and psychological and psychiatric evaluations, as well as advocacy and care coordination services.

Nassau County Department of Social Services

  • Government's principal agency for providing essential human services.
  • Including, but not limited to: financial assistance, Family assistance, Home Energy Assistance Program, SNAP, employment, Medicaid, etc.

Cohen Children’s Medical Center

  • Pediatric Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center: provides walk-in evaluations and treatment to assist children and adolescents (ages 5-17) and their families experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
  • Services: Crisis psychotherapy, evidence-based screening/risk assessments, coordination of care, short-term crisis treatment, referral and linkage to follow-up care.

SAFE Center

  • The Safe Center offers a broad spectrum of services from counseling to housing, from advocacy to referrals, etc. through a highly trained, nurturing and compassionate staff of professionals well qualified to provide the highest level of services to enhance the recovery of trauma victims and their non-offending family members.

OPWDD - Office for People With Developmental Disabilities

  • OPWDD offers an array of services and supports to help people with developmental disabilities live in the home of their choice; find employment and other meaningful activities in which to participate; build relationships in the community, and experience health and wellness. The various levels and combinations of services and supports mean that OPWDD can accommodate the strengths, needs, and preferences of virtually any person with developmental disabilities.
  • People new to the OPWDD system can access services and supports through our Front Door. Those already receiving services can review service and support options, and may want to consider self-direction. If you are interested in changing your services, talk to your service coordinator about the service amendment process and submit a Service Amendment Request Form.

The Youth Department at Sid Jacobson JCC offers after school activities for every child. Our offerings include classes in athletics and fitness, the arts, technology, and mind building. Working with specialists from the community we are able to bring you the most quality programming right here in our building! If you or your child are looking for a special class that you do not see listed all you have to do is ask and we would be happy to add it for you!

Enrichment activities at Sid Jacobson JCC give children the opportunity to have a unique after school experience. From spending time together on the bus from school to the JCC, to enjoying a snack, homework help, and recreational play, and then creatively expressing themselves in enrichment each child goes home with a sense of accomplishment. Our staff, teen volunteers, enrichment teachers and coaches work together to create a positive after school experience for every child.
