Child Development Specialists
Developmental Pediatrician: is a physician who evaluates, counsels and provides treatment for children, adolescents and their families with a wide range of developmental and behavioral difficulties, including and not limited to learning disorders, attention and behavioral disorders (such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, depression, anxiety disorders), regulatory disorders (such as sleeping disorders, eating disorders) and developmental disabilities (such as cerebral palsy, mental retardation, autism spectrum disorders) and problems related to chronic pediatric illnesses or conditions (such as Epilepsy, Diabetes, Asthma).
Clinical Psychologist: is a licensed psychologist who has earned a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. A licensed clinical psychologist uses a wide range of assessment and intervention methods to promote mental health and to alleviate discomfort and maladjustment. Some intervention techniques include psychotherapy, behavior therapy, family therapy and social learning approaches.
Clinical Social Worker: is a licensed social worker who has earned a masters in social work plus three years of post MSQ supervised experience. A licensed Clinical Social Worker's practice includes the diagnosis of mental, emotional, behavioral, addictive and developmental disorders and disabilities. The clinical social worker has experience in diagnosis, psychotherapy and assessment-based treatment plans.
Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist: is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and the treatment of disorders of thinking, feeling and/or behavior affecting children, adolescents and their families. The child and adolescent psychiatrist uses knowledge of biological, psychological and social factors when working with patients with pervasive developmental disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, mental retardation, mood disorders, depressive and anxiety disorders, drug dependency and conduct disorders.
Neurologist: is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of nervous system disorders including and not limited to movement disorders, epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and spinal cord disorders.
Neuropsychologist: is a licensed psychologist who has earned a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or Neuropsychology. A licensed neuropsychologist has extensive training in brain-behavior relationships, neuropsychological assessment of cognitive functioning and training to identify deficits and problems that result from organic causes. The neuropsychological evaluation assesses the cognitive capabilities and limitations of the individual which include, but are not limited to: thinking and reasoning abilities, language processes, memory, attention and concentration, sensory motor abilities and the organization of behavior.
