Alzheimer's Day Program
Has someone in your life been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, or another degenerative illness? Sid Jacobson JCC’s Fay J. Lindner Senior Service Center in collaboration with the Herrick’s Community Fund and the Herrick’s School District, is providing Our Space Adult Day Program. (Formerly the Herrick’s Alzheimer’s Day Program).
"Our Space" is a social model of adult day services established in 1987 for Nassau County residents over the age of 60 who are frail and memory impaired. Caregivers are provided with respite, education and support. These programs are made possible with funds from Nassau County Office for the Aging through the New York State Office for the Aging and the US Administration on Aging, Town of North Hempstead, the Herrick’s Community Fund and private donations.
All programs require an assessment to ensure proper placement. The program meets Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 2pm at the Herricks Community Center, 999 Herricks Road, New Hyde Park. Please call Christine Pizzo, Herricks Site Supervisor, 516-484-1545 ext. 788 for additional information, if you would like to volunteer or to make a donation.

At that time, it was called the Herricks Community Center Fund, Inc. dedicated to supporting the programs and building improvements in the Community Center. In 1996, the Fund was approached by the Superintendent. of the Schools and the Board of Education to extend its scope an include raising monies for educational programs and special school projects. We accepted the challenge, amended our bylaws, changed out name, and have never looked back. The Herricks Community Fund, Inc. is committed to enriching the Herricks community and its school district. The Fund is dedicated to providing financial support for programs, projects, and educational enrichment to enhance the quality of life for people of all ages in Herricks. We will strive to raise funds and distribute our resources to maximize the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development to those who reside in our community. The Herricks Community Fund has donated over $700,000 in the last 20 years to worthwhile causes. Herricks Community Fund, Inc. benefits individual community needs as well as the following:

Boy Scouts
Scouts BSA is part of the Boy Scouts of America for both Boys and Girls ages 11-17.
Scouts BSA provides the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training, which helps young people be “Prepared For Life.” The Scouting organization is composed of approximately 2.2 million youth members between the ages of 5 and 21 and approximately 800,000 volunteers in local councils throughout the United States and its territories.
Scouting teaches youth to confront any challenge with whole hearts and clear minds—to live their lives without regret, never back down, and do their very best!

Cub Scouts
Cub Scouting is part of the Boy Scouts of America for both Boys and Girls grades K-5.
We encourage boys and girls to make friends, be helpful to others, and do their very best no matter the outcome. With the help of powerful learning projects and exciting outdoor activities, we aim to teach children that doing their best can be a fun and rewarding experience—no matter the difficulty of the challenge.

Herricks Chinese Association
HCA is a non-profit organization devoted to being a voice for the Chinese community in Herricks. The mission of HCA is to educate and promote Chinese culture and awareness and to provide support to our school district and Chinese community, helping to bridge the two. Each year, HCA organizes the Herricks Lunar New Year Celebration with over 1,000 people in attendance, free to the community. HCA supports Herricks school events and hosts monthly programs to keep the Chinese community informed and engaged. HCA works cooperatively with the school district at all levels for the benefit of our students and community.

Herricks Youth Council
Herricks Youth Council is a community organization comprised of youth, parents, school district personnel, representatives of local community agencies, and law enforcement. Herricks Youth Council is dedicated to the prevention of violence and substance abuse within the Herricks community. It is designed to bring adults and youths together in an organized environment to fulfill the different interests of our diverse student population. Youth Council gets the students involved in recreational, community service and excursion activities. Youth Council would like to thank our various sources of funding, Grants from Federal, State, Town, The Herricks Community Fund, and The Herricks School District, who all aide in making theses programs possible.
The Middle School Youth Council Recreation program is run by Tara Krinsky, a Herricks Health and Physical Education teacher, and a trained staff of certified teachers, college students and Herricks High School Juniors and Seniors. The Friday Night program for 6th, 7th and 8th graders operates in the Middle School from 7 - 9pm. Middle School students are required to sign a contract. A $10.00 admission fee is required each Friday night, and includes pizza, drinks and snacks along with the other activities. Non-Herricks students are welcome with a Library card, parental permission and the $10.00 fee.
This program provides students with a safe, drug and violence free environment using various recreational activities such as arts and crafts, sports activities, acting, dance, DJ, music, movies, video and board games, and community service activities. There has been exceptional student involvement and the program has been run successfully for many years now.

The Friendship Garden
Thank you for your interest in setting your child up for lifelong success by providing
him/her with the opportunity to have a safe, nurturing, and high-quality early education
experience. This opportunity is unique because your child will learn and grow with high
school students who take the Child Study Practicum as a course selection. These
students are interested in pursuing careers within the field of Education or Family
Services.
Our Early Childhood Education Lab provides a year long nursery & preschool style
experience, where volunteer children from our community are taught and led by high
school students. These secondary students are supervised and guided by a certified
classroom teacher.
Our class meets on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:30-11:45 am from
September to early June. This program is free of charge.

According to FOIL, public agencies are required to provide copies of records in the format and on the medium desired by the person filing the request if the agency can reasonably do so. The Herricks Public Schools provides records electronically, where possible, or as photocopies delivered by postal mail. A person may also pick up records in person. Please indicate your preference on the request form.

Herricks Players is an adult community theatre group that has been putting on high quality theatrical productions for the local community and surrounding neighborhoods across Long Island and Queens for over 40 Years. All of the proceeds from our shows go to the Herricks Community Fund which in turn supports many wonderful programs in the Herricks district. We attract top talent from the Tri- State area to take the leads in our shows and welcome every person who has an interest in performing to be part of our ensemble. You will be amazed that such a high quality theatrical experience is available right here at Herricks. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to purchase tickets and attend one of our performances.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a children's theatre group?
No, the Herricks Players are primarily an adult theatre group. Anyone age 14 or over is welcome to audition for one of our productions. Occasionally, we will choose a show that has parts for younger children and we then welcome children 13 and under to audition for those parts.
How many shows do you do a year?
We typically do 2 shows a year. A drama or comedy in the Fall and a musical in the Spring. We do approximately 6-8 performances of each show. Our Spring Musical is accompanied by a live orchestra. How can I get involved?
We are always looking for actors to perform in the shows and volunteers to be part of our production team.
We need Actors, Dancers, Singers , Painters , Carpenters, Ticket sellers, Ushers, Stage hands etc. If you are 14 or older we would love to have your help. Community service hours are available for High School students. If you would like to get involved, please contact margostagemanager@gmail.com.

We have been successfully working with school districts across Long Island to help increase the speed and efficiency of sex offender notifications. We have recently enhanced and upgraded our website and the Sex Offender E-mail Alert Program. Community members may now select specific zip codes they would like to receive notifications for.
Providing a copy of this registration form on the district website will also expedite the registration process - visitors simply print a copy and mail it directly to us.
Our upgraded website and email alert program allows subscribers to select zip codes throughout all of New York State and to be notified via email of all sex offender notifications implemented within Suffolk and Nassau County, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 registrants.
