District Council of PTAs
Mission Statement
Recognizing that every student deserves excellence in education and a quality life, the Herricks District Council of PTAs obligation is to maintain its commitment and service to all children and its diverse membership; through increased parent/guardian participation, school and community awareness, advocacy, and education, and to foster and promote communication and interaction between the units, the administrators and the Board of Education.
Council Objectives
- Working towards common district goals, Council members work together to effectively advocate on behalf of all district students.
- Working to be a channel of communication by relaying information from local and state school officials, and State and National PTAs, to broaden public understanding and involvement of home, school and community.
- Working to promote and provide a forum of open communication and the sharing of ideas between all units, administrators, council and community groups, in the collaboration and effort towards proactive problem solving.
- Working to secure adequate laws for the care and protection of all students.
- Working to develop with educators and the general public, such united efforts that will secure for all students the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and moral education.
- Working to bring into closer relation the home and the school, so that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of all students.
- Working to foster unity and collaboration to increase community group involvement in the district.
- Working to increase voter awareness and participation within the school community.
- Working closely with the Superintendent and the Board of Education, PTA Council facilitates progress and changes for the betterment of our district.
