    In our classes we will be studying Mandarin, the official dialect of China. We will study not only the language but also the culture and traditions of the Chinese people as well. This includes exploring the arts of Chinese calligraphy, painting, music, crafts, cooking and tai-chi. 

    We will be focusing on the four skills of understanding, speaking, reading and writing. Chinese word processing skills will also be introduced. Daily activities will include conversations, skits, classmate interviews, cooperative learning, games, projects using the computer and iPad and other hands-on activities. The pinyin system will be studied in conjunction with simplified characters. We will also be studying Chinese word processing skills. Culture will be integrated into all activities.
