    Attention Freshmen!

Do you want to run for a position on Student Government?

Building community and having thoughtful students who represent you and your grade has never been more important!  If you can be the voice of The Class of 2024, you need to run!

Each grade level has eleven representatives!  No cabinet positions will be chosen until later in the year, so you don’t run for a position; you run to be a Senator in Student Government and a voice for your peers.

Luckily, we have conducted our voting online for the past few years, so we are already equipped for an e-lection.  Here is what you need to know:

    1. If you are able to come to bi-weekly Senate meetings (held remotely on Thursday afternoons), and think you would represent your peers in a fair and impartial way, you may nominate yourself.   Your first Senate meeting would be on Thursday, October 8!

    2. Remember, running for Student Government means you are a representative of our school, our students, and our core values of respect and hard work.  If you cannot uphold these tenets, we respect your decision not to run!

    3. If you want to run, you must make a “poster” on a google slide!  All candidates will be part of a slideshow displaying all the posters of those students running.  These posters will help voters attach your face to your name.  Feel free to come up with a catchy slogan or a fun design.  Inappropriate posters will disqualify you from running.

    4. If you want to run, send an email to sge@herricksk12.org (Student Government Elections).  In the body of the email you must type your full name (as you want it to appear on the ballot) and you must attach your google slide poster.  Do not send a nomination email without attaching your google slide poster.

Your email and google slide poster are due by Tuesday, September 29 at midnight.  Any nomination emails received after that time will not be added to the slideshow or ballot.

Elections will be held at the start of October, and you will get a link to the slideshow of the candidates and the ballot, so look for more information in the coming weeks!

I look forward to seeing which of you are ready to lead your grade into the future!
    Mr. Stein
