• Le 7ieme Art

Throughout the history of cinema, French films have been recognized for their quality, intellectual content, and artistic presentation. Of all the art forms, film offers the richest expression of a particular culture's identity: its beliefs, values, dreams, memory. Using film as texts, this course examines the representation of chilhood and adolescence, and their relationship to family, society, memory, creativity and self-discovery. Films organized around themes (psychodrama, history, cultural/documentary, comedy, musical) are accompanied by texts, (film scripts, literary texts), and exercises (film comprehension questions, journal writing, creative writing, grammatical structures) chosen for their thematic unity. The film selection vary according to the availability of new releases and the students'interests.
