These $1,000 and two (2) $750, two (2) $500 and one (1) $250 scholarships are intended for students who plan to attend college to become educators. Interested students must submit an essay that describes why they want to become a teacher and what inspired them to become a teacher. If a particular Herricks teacher had an influence on your decision to become an educator, please include a short paragraph explaining who the teacher was, and how he or she influenced you. That teacher may be invited to attend the awards ceremony if your essay is chosen as the winner.     
                   
Essays must be submitted to Ms. Khan, in the Counseling and Wellness Center, by May 20th.
