Denton supports Ukrainian children with art and messages of hope
Denton Avenue Elementary School art students in grades K-5 designed cards and artwork filled with inspirational messages of support and hope to send Ukrainian refugee children being sheltered in Poland. The young Herricks artists were eager to learn the colors that represent the Ukraine and realized that the simple gesture of peace is the same worldwide.

Herricks honors, celebrates Black History Month
Black History Month was celebrated several ways throughout the Herricks Public Schools during the month of February. Students engaged in lessons, reading assignments, discussions, art projects and other activities that focused on Black heroes and their historical contributions.

Two Herricks High School musicians to perform abroad
Herricks High School senior Keneil Soni and junior Carolyn Lau have been invited to participate in the 2022 National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA), a prestigious national program by Carnegie Hall.

Junior wins North Shore Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competion
On March 5, Herricks High School junior Carolyn Lau competed in and won the North Shore Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition. As the winner, she will be performing the Nielsen Flute Concerto as a soloist with the NSSO Orchestra at their May 21st concert at the Adelphi Performing Arts Center.

Herricks Wrestlers score big at NYS tournament
Congratulations to Joseph Manfredi and Joseph Mattei on earning ALL-STATE honors this past weekend in Albany, NY. Manfredi is now the 110lb NYS CHAMPION, defeating Mikey Manta of Hauppauge 5-1 in the finals.

New fitness center opens at Herricks High School
On Feb. 15, Herricks Board of Education President Henry Zanetti, along with members of the board and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Fino Celano, officially welcomed friends and members of the Herricks school community to the unveiling of the new fitness center at Herricks High School.
