Denton Avenue’s Human Relations club and student council collected new and unwrapped toys for the Marine Toys 4 Tots program. Denton families demonstrated incredible support for the program and generosity donated six full boxes of toys.

Herricks Art Department Presents Annual Artists Recognition Show
The Herricks Art Department presented its annual Artist Recognition Show at Herricks High School on Tuesday, Dec. 7. The art show featured over 200 pieces of art created by students from all grade levels under the direction of art teachers Alexis Camisa (High School), Jennifer Cavalluzzo (High School), Kim Friedman (Herricks Middle School), Doreen McDevitt (Center Street), Maria Monda (Denton Avenue), Cindy Perotti (Middle School), Amanda Rodriguez (Searingtown), and Allyson Zebrowski. A film of the event was also produced by Chris Brogan (High School) and the members of the TV Studio.

Herricks Teachers Recognized by Board of Education for Outstanding Honors
Three teachers from Herricks Public Schools were recognized by the district’s Board of Education on Dec. 9 for outstanding honors. Maria Clark, a Herricks High School AP Biology teacher, was recognized for being honored with the 2021 Yale Educator Award. According to Yale, the “program recognizes outstanding educators from around the world who have supported and inspired their students to achieve at high levels.” Of this year’s 305 nominees who represent 38 U.S. states and 17 countries, only 50 teachers and 21 counselors were selected to receive the award.

Herricks High School Announces Class of 2022 Valedictorian and Salutatorian
Herricks High School has announced that Keneil Soni and Chloe Chang have been named the Class of 2022 valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively. In addition to this great honor, both students were named National Merit Semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Herricks Junior to participate in prestigious U.S. Senate Page Program
Herricks High School junior Namit Kapoor has been selected to participate in the prestigious United States Senate's Pages Program. Representing the state of New York, he is one of 30 students from across the country to participate.
