Welcome to our K-1 IG class! My name is Mrs. Hinson and I will have the pleasure of working with you this year! The 2022-2023 school year will mark my 19th year teaching in Herricks. I am incredibly excited to get back to the classroom to work with my former superheroes and welcome some new superheroes, too!  We will have lots of fun in our Superhero Class!! 

I LOVE superheroes. You will notice that I will often refer to my students as my "Superheroes" and will do many superhero-themed activities. Emma and Jake, my children, also love superheroes. They have been my inspiration in naming my class, "The Superhero Class." When they were little, Emma and Jake had many superhero toys and costumes they played with all the time. Now that they are older, they still love superheroes, but enjoy a variety of other themes too! I often talk about Emma and Jake. You will see pictures of them in our classroom! Emma and Jake are always doing or saying something funny and keep me very, VERY busy! Jake is a hockey goalie and Emma is a martial artist.  Did you know that Mr. Hinson is a brave New York City firefighter? He is our hero! 

My family and I had a very BUSY but relaxing summer. We visited Lake George for the 4th of July weekend. It was amazing! Later in July, we visited Tennessee and Mississippi to see family members Emma and Jake had never met.   We  also went to the beach, the park, Urban Air, and Adventureland with family and friends. Last summer, I had back surgery and was unable to do much. This summer, my family and I were able to enjoy our time together and have lots of memories before the hustle and bustle of this school year.

It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over and that we will be back to school soon. My family and I are also getting ready for the new school year. We are super excited that this year will look a little more normal than it has since the pandemic. This school year, Emma is starting 5th grade and Jake will be in 4th grade. I can't believe my babies are growing so fast. In the blink of an eye, my first born is in her LAST year of elementary school!!! They are excited about meeting their new teachers and seeing their friends. I know they will have a great year. 

I’m looking forward to working with all of my superheroes this year! Together, we will have a SUPER year!!
