    The Herricks Public Schools are pleased to announce several student achievements in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program. Six entries won Gold Key distinctions and have advanced to the national level, with results to be shared in mid-March.

  • Joe Manfredi - Nassau County Wrestling Champion

    8th grader Joe Manfredi is the Nassau County Wrestling Champion in the 99lb. weight class. Manfredi won the title at the Nassau County Individual Wrestling Championships at SUNY Farmingdale.

  • Herricks Musicians Perform at Lincoln Center

    On Feb. 11, two small chamber ensembles from Herricks High School performed as semi-finalists in the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society's Young Musicians Program competition. The regional semi-final concert was held at the Tilles Center and featured 13 ensembles, representing seven high schools from Long Island.

  • Hearty Hops at Searingtown

    On Feb. 6, the students at Searingtown School in the Herricks Public Schools jumped all over heart disease and stroke by participating in Jump Rope for Heart. The students raised more than $12,700 for the American Heart Association, which funds research, programs and education to fight heart disease and stroke.

  • Herricks Mock Trial Team Wins 1st Round

    The Herricks Mock Trial Team won their first round of the Mock Trial competition on February 10, 2020 at the Nassau Supreme Courthouse. "Lawyers" Brandon Marafino, Eshita Kushi, and Moniza Mujtaba along with their witnesses Olivia Berg, Prableen Kaur and Dino Vadaich successfully prosecuted their case.

  • Herricks Wrestling Team Outstanding Outcome

    The Herricks Wrestling team enjoyed an outstanding outing this past Saturday during the Nassau County Wrestling Qualifying Tournament. 13 wrestlers have qualified to compete in the Nassau County Individual Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, February 15th at SUNY Farmingdale.

  • Herricks Robotics Club Earns Innovate Award

    Herricks High School’s Robotics Club participated in the VEX Robotics Competition on Feb. 1, under the guidance of teachers and co-advisers Dan Gillam and Anthony Cirisano. The club was tasked with designing and building robots that would be able to pick up and place cubes into allocated zones and towers.

  • Jeremy and Jovana Lau were crowned Nassau County Fencing Champions

    Saturday's Nassau County Individual Fencing Championship for fencing was a huge success for Herricks! Brother and sister Jeremy and Jovana Lau were crowned Nassau County Champions (Sabre weapon). Both Student-Athletes have achieved All Long Island and All County status as well as winning the "Fencer’s Fencing Award".

  • Great Musicians Collaborate at Herricks HS

    On Jan. 31, the Herricks High School Chamber Orchestra hosted I Giovani Solisti, an ensemble comprised of the top string students from Conard High School and Hall High School in West Hartford, CT.

  • Herricks Sophomores Solve Climate Issues

    A group of Herricks High School sophomores won the Lexus Eco Challenge’s Air and Climate Challenge, which the students entered through their involvement in Science Research under the direction of teacher Renée Barcia. Nassau County Legislator Ellen Birnbaum visited the school on Jan. 30 to commend them, and was joined by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Fino Celano, Principal Joan Keegan, Science Department Chairperson Karen Hughes and Ms. Barcia.

  • Jan. 30 Board Meeting Highlights Herricks Scientists

    The Herricks Public Schools’ Jan. 30 Board of Education Meeting recognized Regeneron Science Talent Search Semi-Finalists Carrie Hsu and Bhav Patel. The two high school seniors are among the top 300 scholars for this prestigious math and science competition and were awarded $2,000 each.
