• Kites Take Flight in Herricks STEAM Session

    Herricks Middle School held a spring STEAM event for sixth graders on April 10, based on the theme of flying. All participants did an excellent job collaborating and putting their innovation skills to work.

  • Herricks Senior Wins Top Prize in International Poetry Contest

    Herricks High School senior Joanna Lau won first place in the International Poetry of Resistance Contest, presented by the Social Justice Club. Her poem, “Between Indigo and Dawn,” was selected out of over 250 submissions from 12 different countries.

  • Herricks Science Students Win at New York State Science and Engineering Fair

    On April 1st, Herricks High School Science Research student Carrie Hsu competed and won first place award in the New York State Science and Engineering Fair held at the New York Hall of Science. Carrie will now compete on the international level at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair to be held in Phoenix Arizona from May 11-May 17, 2019.

  • History Day a Herricks Success

    Herricks students excelled at the National History Day Regional Competition, held at Hofstra University on March 31, which featured 46 schools and more than 815 students from across Long Island. This year, Herricks High School and Middle School competed and won in many categories for work that they developed after thoroughly researching various historical topics.

  • Herricks Students Get Musical at Jazz Day

    On Saturday, March 30, Herricks Vocal Jazz participated in Jazz Day at LIU Post. The day included a vocal jazz workshop with Dr. Jen Miceli and masterclass with singers from the Swingles, the internationally renowned a cappella ensemble based in London.

  • Herricks Represents New York State at Music for All National Festival

    On March 14-16, two small chamber ensembles from Herricks High School participated in the Music for All National Chamber Music Festival, held in Indianapolis, IN. Both ensembles were accepted to this prestigious national festival following a rigorous process in which a panel of renowned adjudicators evaluated their performance recordings.
