Herricks High School’s Class of 2017 moved onward and upward during the 58th annual commencement ceremony, as they celebrated years of accomplishments and a fresh start filled with boundless opportunities. As the sun set on the evening of June 22, the moment graduates had been working toward became a reality.

Track and Field Athletes Honored
On Monday, June 12, five Herricks varsity track and field athletes were honored at the Annual Nassau County Section 8 Track and Field banquet at the Crest Hollow Country Club.

Searingtown Presents Colonial Fair
The Herricks Public Schools’ Searingtown Elementary School held its annual fourth-grade Colonial Fair on June 8. Students provided a visual, interactive showcase of the knowledge that they have obtained about colonial life through classroom lessons and activities.

Herricks Middle School Makes Birthdays Special for Children in Need
On May 25, helping hands and caring hearts of approximately 150 Herricks Middle School students came together to assemble packages for the Birthday Wishes volunteer organization. They gathered in the building’s cafeteria and worked together to create gifts that will turn into lasting memories.

Herricks High School’s English Scholars Program (ESP) hosted its annual exhibition of student work. The Library Media Center was transformed into a gallery of creative displays developed by students who participate in ESP.

Reading is Rewarding for Denton Avenue Students
Students in grades K-3 at the Herricks Public Schools’ Denton Avenue School kicked off a summer of reading on May 31.

Herricks MS and HS Students Earn High Scores on National French Contest
Herricks High School students attained exceptional results on Le Grand Concours, or the National French Contest. Six Herricks students ranked in the top ten in the entire nation at their respective levels, and ten are among the top ten in Nassau County.

Theodore Roosevelt Public Speaking Contest Finalist
Three students from Herricks High School's Social Studies Research class competed in the Theodore Roosevelt Public Speaking Contest, held on May 23 and 24 at Christ Church in Oyster Bay.
