Accounting I is an introductory course to the world of accounting. Often referred to as "the language of business," accounting allows various departments within an organization to effectively communicate with one another, as well as with external parties. Accounting I focuses on financial statements, the accounting information system, accruals/deferrals, merchandising operations, reporting and analyzing inventory, receivables, long-lived/fixed assets, liabilities, and stockholders' equity.
Accounting I enables qualified sophomores, juniors, and seniors to earn 3 college credits through Farmingdale State College's University in the High School program. Credits will be recorded on an official Farmingdale transcript and can be used to pursue a degree at Farmingdale or a transcript can be sent to any other college the student wishes to attend.
