    The Herricks groups earned six Gold with Distinction awards, five Gold awards and a Silver distinction. Congratulations to the following ensembles and their respective teachers/directors, who received impressive designations.

  • Annual Personal Best Breakfast Awards

    On May 25th Mrs. Caryn Krucher, along with the Guidance Department at Herricks High School, hosted the Annual Personal Best Award Breakfast for 9th grade students. Thirty students from the freshman class were honored with the Personal Best Award at the breakfast.

  • Denton Avenue Students Raise $3,200 for Ryan's Well Fundraiser

    When Ryan Hreljac was a six-year-old Canadian boy, he raised money to build a well for clean drinking water in Uganda. Now as a young adult he founded Ryan’s Well, a not-for-profit organization that continues his efforts.

  • Skills and teamwork lead to success for Searingtown Robotics Club

    Searingtown Elementary School’s Robotics Club held its first-ever competition for fifth-graders after school on May 8. Using Lego Mindstorms kits, students configured their robots to navigate a maze filled with obstacles.

    Among a sea of doting parents, faculty and students, members of the Herricks Board of Education recognized students for their academics and community service during their May 4 meeting. “We are very proud of these incredibility talented young students,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Fino Celano. “They continue to uphold the highest level of academic standards, give back to their community and inspire us all to be terrific leaders.”

  • Herricks HS congratulates National Merit Scholarship winners

    Three Herricks High School seniors that were recognized as National Merit finalists this past winter and semifinalists in the fall have been honored as winners of prestigious, highly sought-after scholarships. Natalie Tan, Nita Wong and Kelly Yu earned these awards based on their academic success, which included their SAT and PSAT results.

  • SEPTA Honors Student Advocates For Those With Special Needs

    The Herricks Public Schools’ Special Education Parent Teachers Association (SEPTA) held its annual Peer Advocates for Students with Special Needs Awards Night on May 1. This event recognizes students from each of the district’s school buildings who go above and beyond to make a difference for their peers with special needs.
