Jump Rope For Heart - 2019-2020
This February, Searingtown's third, fourth and fifth grade students participated in Jump Rope for Heart, sponsored by the American Heart Association. The students participated in six member teams and jumped for approximately 75 minutes.
By participating in Jump Rope For Heart, we are helping to save lives, inspire healthy lifestyles and motivate children to help others.
While our children are exercising and strengthening their hearts, we will also be helping the American Heart Association with our donations. The Searingtown Community has consistently been very generous.
For the 2018-2019 school year, we raised just over $8,000.
Thank you to all the families that made this year's program so successful.
Why It's Important:
- Heart disease is the #1 killer; stroke is the #3 killer and a leading cause of serious disability.
- Congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects.
- Cardiovascular disease ranks as the #2 cause of death for children under the age of 15.
- Overweight and diabetes are increasing at an alarming rate among our nation's youth.
