Ms. Bambrick

  • Welcome to TEAM BAMBRICK!
    Together Everyone Achieves More!
In our class we use the TEAM theme to create a sense of community, cooperation, friendship, and hard work in our classroom. Each and every child is important and valued. Teaching is a passion and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to be part of the Herricks Community and Searingtown School since 1989.
My educational background is varied. I received a liberal arts degree in psychology from Eisenhower College in 1979. I worked retail management for 6 years until I followed my heart and studied to become a teacher. In 1987 I received a graduate certification in Elementary Education from Central Connecticut State University and taught in Connecticut for 2 years. In 1991 I received a Master of Liberal Studies with a concentration in Theater in Education from SUNY at Stony Brook. I love learning and studying new ideas and continue to take courses in math, technology, reading, writing, social emotional learning, and coaching.
I have 4 terrific children, a wonderful daughter-in-law, and 3 adorable grandchildren My oldest son, Kevin is married to his college sweetheart, Sophie. They have a beautiful 5 1/2 year old daughter named Tessie and a 21/2 old named Lucy, and a son, Martin who is 6 months old.. They live in Maryland. Kevin teaches Latin and Greek. He is kind and hardworking.
My second son, Timmy is in law school studying to make the world a better place. He lights up the room with his smile and friendly personality.  He loves to perform. It is always great to see him on stage or in film and on TV. Timmy and I have have completed 3 marathons together. He lives in Manhattan.
My daughter Colleen graduated from Syracuse University where she was on the cheer team and studied nutrition. She enjoys making people smile and helping people stay healthy. She is a pesonal trainer. I call her my "Sunshine Girl." Colleen is studying to become an elementary teacher this year, like her mom, and is the program director of The Little Gym of Rockville Center.
My youngest daughter, Maggie is a recnt graduate of USMA at West Point  with a double major in Russian and American History. She is now a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army who is  passionate about serving our country, helping others, and learning langauges and history.
One of my favorite activities outside of teaching and being a mom, is running.  I run a lot! So far I have run 31 marathons, 20 half marathons, and more 5ks than I can count. Running helps me be strong and focus on what I need to do. A marathon is 26.2 miles. Right now I am training to run the Long Island Marathon in September, Marine Corps Marathon and Virtual BostonMarathon -  both in October, and Philadelphia Marathon in November.
I am a run coach for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training and for Searingtown's Girls on the Run. I also love to sing, cook, read, and write.
I help coordinate three very special and important school wide programs at Searingtown ~  Flag Day Celebration, 9/11 Memorial Photograph, and the Second Grade Heritage Celebration. Each of these events help spread the message of peace and understanding and how very lucky we all are to live in this great country ~ the United States of America. I hope we will be able to have these programs this year.
I look forward to working with my students to discover and nurture their talents and to become critical thinkers and problem-solvers through reading, writing, projects, games, and songs.
It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy
    in creative expression and knowledge.
