Herricks Appoints Middle School Principal
Herricks Public Schools appointed Brian McConaghy, an experienced administrator and educator, as the next Herricks Middle School principal during a Board of Education meeting held on April 12. He will assume the role currently held by Joan Keegan, who is preparing to take the reins at Herricks High School as of July 1.

Herricks Appoints Two Elementary Principals
Herricks Public Schools appointed two new principals at its March 22nd Board of Education meeting. Loren Borgese will take the leadership post at Denton Avenue School, while Diana DeGiorgio will do so at Searingtown School.

Education in Herricks is a Community Effort
The Herricks Public Schools and Community Fund Trustees gathered at the Inn at New Hyde Park for the Herricks Community Fund’s 22nd Annual Dinner Dance. The event raised money for school programs and special projects while celebrating those who go above and beyond in making education in Herricks the best it can be.

Herricks High School Named a National Blue Ribbon School
In an announcement that was officially presented by the United States Department of Education on Sept. 28, Herricks High School was named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2017. Herricks was recognized for academic excellence as a high-performing school – one of two possible grounds for selection. The other is the ability to close achievement gaps among student subgroups.

Camp Invention Returns to Herricks
Camp Invention takes summer fun and transforms it from ordinary to extraordinary! In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Searingtown Elementary School is pleased to offer the nationally acclaimed Camp Invention program to children entering grades 3-5. It’s an exciting, week long summer adventure with lessons that explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation.
