  • Denton - 5th Grade Band & Chorus Concert

    The Denton Avenue Band students put on an amazing Spring concert. The Denton Fifth Grade Chorus sang songs from various genres of music during the first of two spring concerts. These included a song sung entirely in German called Marienwurmchen (Ladybug) a song written by the composer Johannes Brahms and later edited by Mary Goetze. Also included were A Million Dreams, a contemporary song from the movie "The Greatest Showman", and Tyger written by Elaine Hagenberg. The Herricks Music Boosters commissioned this piece for the students in the 5th and 6th grade Herricks choirs.

  • Denton Students Make Poppy Flowers to Honor Heroes on Memorial Day

    Denton Art teacher, Maria Monda created this special bulletin board covered with poppies with her Denton students to remember those who have perished in service to our country.

  • Denton - St. Jude Math-a-thon Assembly

    On April 30th the Denton Avenue Student Council, advised by Mrs. Daria Roulett, kicked off its 16th annual Math-a-thon to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in their fight against childhood cancer. This year’s drive is dedicated to Bobby Menges, who fought cancer fiercely and bravely. Mrs. Liz Menges, Bobby’s mother, joined the assembly for an inspiring presentation, highlighting Bobby’s many community service endeavors, and his continued legacy of fund raising for good causes. Mrs. Menges emphasized how we can all make a difference with small acts of kindness and service to others.

  • Denton - St. Jude Math-a-thon

    Dear Denton Families, Our students are joining St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® in the fight against childhood cancer by participating in a St. Jude Math-A-Thon ending May 10, 2019. This week-long event helps kids refine their academic skills while teaching them that they have the power to help others.   • Denton PTA - Author Visit

    The Denton PTA invited author and illustrator, Barbara McClintock, to visit Denton Avenue School to speak with children about about the writing process and the inspiration for her stories.

  • Denton Kindergartners Celebrate the 100th Day of School!

    Denton kindergarteners dressed as 100-year-old citizens on the 100th day of school and participated in a variety of activities to celebrate the 100th day of school.

  • Denton Students Design Backpack Prototype

    The fifth grade students in Mrs. Roulett’s class learned how to design a new concept for the traditional school backpack. After working cooperatively in small groups, they completed prototypes of their designs using paper. Students proudly presented their impressive creations.

  • PARP Week at Denton

    During PARP week, Denton students dressed as their favorite game character. Some of the characters spotted around the building were the Monopoly man, Mario, and Minecraft figures.

  • Herricks schools have a strong start!

    Herricks Public Schools students and staff members kicked off an exciting 2019-20 school year on Sept. 3, when hallways and classrooms were filled with those eager to learn. As a result of summer projects included in the budget, the bond and legislative grants, many improvements were made to facilities districtwide.

  • Herricks Elementary Schools at the Top in NY State

    The Herricks Public Schools takes the top 20 with regard to elementary schools, as indicated on Niche.com’s recent list of the 2020 Best Public Elementary Schools in New York. Out of 2,780 public elementary schools in the state, Herricks ranks at No. 11, No. 18 and No. 20 for Searingtown School, Denton Avenue School and Center Street School, respectively.

  • Herricks at the Top of State’s School Dstricts

    The Herricks Public Schools has been ranked the 5th best school district in New York State on a 2020 list of 677 schools reviewed by Niche.com. Having received an overall Niche grade of A+, Herricks also moved up two spots on the list since last year. The district was ranked No. 4 when looking only at Long Island schools, and was additionally ranked by Niche.com as No. 18 on a list of the 2020 Best School Districts in America.
