Friday the 13th turned out to be a lucky night for Herricks Highlanders fans as they filled the high school stadium to capacity under clear skies and geared up for a high-energy homecoming parade and celebration.
Herricks School District is proud to announce that Denton Avenue Elementary School has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School for its exemplary high academic performance.
Herricks High School’s Class of 2023 concluded a major chapter in their lives during the 64th Annual Commencement Ceremony, held on the evening of June 23. The seniors, along with members of the administration, Board of Education and high school faculty, entered the school’s field to the delight of hundreds of guests that filled the bleachers.
With the involvement of various stakeholders, the district has embarked on a strategic coherence planning process to complete a thorough, data-based review of current district practices. The goal of the process is to determine how well the district operates cohesively as a school system to ensure student success and preparedness for life, learning and work beyond graduation from Herricks.
On Tuesday, May 16, residents within the district will vote on the proposed budget for the 2023-24 school year. The spending plan represents a tax levy increase of $1.8 million (1.83%), which is within the district’s allowable tax levy cap for 2023-24.
The proposed budget is based on an extensive set of priorities that continue our district’s tradition of excellence. These drivers guided
our decision-making through the budget development process.
Herricks continues to focus on improving its educational facilities and is always striving to achieve this throughout the district, while enhancing and supporting the academic program.

Herricks High School seniors Ashley Lam, Jeylin Lee and Dheyala Simrin have been named among the top 300 scholars in the Regeneron Science Talent Search 2023, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors.
Herricks High School is excited to congratulate 11 seniors for being named National Merit Semifinalists and 37 Commended Students in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. This is a significant accomplishment for the Class of 2023, representing the students’ academic excellence.
One of the first things new Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tony Sinanis did upon starting his position was develop an entry plan to support his first year in Herricks.
On July 1, the district officially welcomed new Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tony Sinanis.
Dr. Sinanis joins Herricks with 25 years of educational experience. He has held a number of administrative roles, most recently serving as the assistant superintendent for human resources and leadership development in the Chappaqua Central School District, a position he has held since 2018.
