    Herricks High School Named a National Blue Ribbon School

    In an announcement that was officially presented by the United States Department of Education on Sept. 28, Herricks High School was named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2017. Herricks was recognized for academic excellence as a high-performing school – one of two possible grounds for selection.   • Annual Personal Best Breakfast Awards

    On May 25th Mrs. Caryn Krucher, along with the Guidance Department at Herricks High School, hosted the Annual Personal Best Award Breakfast for 9th grade students. Thirty students from the freshman class were honored with the Personal Best Award at the breakfast. These selected students were nominated by their teachers as having truly put their best foot forward this year while transitioning to high school.

  • Herricks Senior Grows from Internship at 9/11 Memorial Museum

    On May 17, Herricks High School senior and Social Studies Research student Nora Ma graduated from a prestigious internship with the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City. She had been selected from a pool of candidates that provided a unique, year-long, afterschool program that offered a behind-the-scenes look into the museum.

  • Herricks Student Takes First-Place Win in Writing Contest

    Herricks High School sophomore Carrie Hsu has been recognized as a first-place winner in the 2018 Kenneth Gambone Writing Contest and was formally honored at the Long Island Language Arts Council Spring Luncheon. Held at Captain Bill’s in Bay Shore on May 19, this event celebrated award recipients that represented grades 4, 7 and 10.

  • Herricks Peer Leaders Make Difference

    Herricks Peer Leaders making a difference at The Mary Brennan Inn soup kitchen. The students worked hard in the boutique sorting clothes, cooking, cleaning and serving meals. We served 263 guest on our visit on March 9th.

  • Reminder! The Herricks HS Track Will Be Temporarily Closed From June 25-July 1

    Reminder! The Herricks High School track will be temporarily closed from June 25-July 1 to allow for re-painting. It will reopen on July 2. Thank you for your patience while we complete the final phases of this project.

  • Budding Young Composer at Herricks High School

    At a Herricks High School concert held on May 22 in the auditorium, the Concert Orchestra presented the world premiere of "Legacy." This piece was written for string orchestra by Michael Pacciullo, a sophomore and talented trombone player in the Wind Ensemble. The music department was very proud to feature him as a "composer-in-residence" for this concert series.

  • Herricks Appoints Matthew Hubbard as Middle School Assistant Principal

    Matthew Hubbard has been appointed Assistant Principal of Herricks Middle School by the Herricks Public Schools’ Board of Education. His new role will begin on July 1. Mr. Hubbard has extensive experience as an educator and school leader and will join the district from Arlington, Virginia.

  • Bond 2016 Update

    Herricks Public Schools are pleased to announce the progress of projects included in the bond referendum that was approved last school year. Phase 1, which involves work related to the high school track and field, as well as the installation of “smart locks” on all classroom doors throughout the district, is nearing completion and the district is preparing to enter the next stages.

  • Herricks Appoints Middle School Principal

    Herricks Public Schools appointed Brian McConaghy, an experienced administrator and educator, as the next Herricks Middle School principal during a Board of Education meeting held on April 12. He will assume the role currently held by Joan Keegan, who is preparing to take the reins at Herricks High School as of July 1.

  • Herricks Appoints Two Elementary Principals

    Herricks Public Schools appointed two new principals at its March 22nd Board of Education meeting. Loren Borgese will take the leadership post at Denton Avenue School, while Diana DeGiorgio will do so at Searingtown School.

  • Camp Invention Returns to Herricks

    Camp Invention takes summer fun and transforms it from ordinary to extraordinary! In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Searingtown Elementary School is pleased to offer the nationally acclaimed Camp Invention program to children entering grades 3-5. It’s an exciting, week long summer adventure with lessons that explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation.
