Silly Chicken Difficulty: Easy Reading Were you ever jealous of someone in your family who steals all the attention? Everyone with a brother or sister probably has experienced this. But what do you do when a pet chicken is the center of attention? In the book, "Silly Chicken," by Rukhsana Khan, the main character, Rani, becomes jealous that her sister is caring for a pet chicken more than her! Something happens in this story that makes loving a chicken not as silly as you think. This book is great for little children because the pictures show a lot of the Pakistani culture and the pictures are humorous. The setting of the story is in rural Pakistan. I thought the story was a little sad because Rani had no father. The moral of the story is don’t be jealous of someone or else something bad will come out of it. Some other books by this author are "The Roses in My Carpets" and "Muslim Child." The author was born in Lore, Pakistan and immigrated to Canada at the age of 3. I personally like the chicken, Bibi, in the story. I hope you have as much fun and laughs as I did reading the book, enjoy. BY: Mohit Note: This book is available in our Library.
