Sori’s Harvest Moon Day
by Lee,UK-Bae

Difficulty: Average

Did you ever wonder about another culture? "Sori’s Harvest Moon Day," written by Uk-Bae Lee, is about the Korean holiday, Harvest Moon Day Festival. The book is an easy picture book to read.

The story is about a girl named Sori. Sori and her grandmother live in Korea. Sori and her parents go to visit Sori’s grandmother’s house for the Korean festival. When they reached their village, their grandma was already there to greet them. Then they would watch the moon. The next day they would pray to their ancestors and have a parade. I could relate to this book because I also go to my relatives’ houses for an Indian holiday, Dawali. When it’s night we usually light fireworks and light firecrackers. Then we stay there for a day and then pray to our gods. The author wrote another book, "The Strongest Rooster in the World." Uk-Bae Lee lives in Korea with his wife and two children. I highly recommend this book to a first or second grader for a good read.
