She tries to survive after being left alone in the crowded city of Vrindavin with only a few rupees (The Indian form of money. 43 rupees are equal to an American dollar). Koly faces many problems such as a fixed young marriage and no money. When she is left in Vrindavin, she has no food or shelter and has to sleep on the street. She eventually finds a job and is able to share an apartment with a friend. Then she meets the man of her dreams. Gloria Whelan is a poet and an author. She lives in a small cabin in Michigan.
