Difficulty: Easy Reading

How is it that a bird can tell a mother that a snake is coming? Baya, Baya, Lulla-by-a, written by Megan McDonald and illustrated by Vera Rosenberry, is a picture book folktale that takes place in India.

In the story, a mother was making a blanket for her baby. There was also a bird that was making a nest out of grass. The bird brought the strands to the mother to make the blanket. The mom gave the baby a bath and fed her mangos. The bird told the mother that a snake was coming. What will the mother do?

This book is about love. The book shows that the mother and the baby love each other. In the book, the pictures tell you about India. The pictures show you that they wear different clothes, they do different things.

I had a similar experience was when I was a baby. When I was a baby I fell and rolled. My godmother and my mom were running to get me. When they got me they were holding me and taking care of me. They were careful of me and they loved me.

The author is Megan McDonald. She has a lot of brothers and sisters. She was born in Pennsylvania. Her family didn’t live in another country. She lives on a farm. She has two dogs, two horses, and fifteen wild turkeys that land on her roof to wake her up every morning. Megan also wrote The Bridge to Nowhere and The Sisters Club. She also wrote the Judy Moody series. I hope you enjoy this book and like it as much as I did.
