Herricks High School sponsors  a chapter of the international music honor society known as Tri-M.  The society is affilliated with the Music Educators National Conference (MENC) which is the national umbrella organization for the state music educators associations, NYSSMA being New York's.

A student who is inducted as a Tri-M member has achieved one of the highest musical honors at Herricks High School. In order to become a member the student must meet several criteria*.

1.      The student must be enrolled in a Herricks High School performing music organization.

2.      The student must maintain a grade of A or better in their primary performing organization.

3.      The student must achieve a NYSSMA grade of VI-A or better in an official NYSSMA adjudication

4.      The student must have a recommendation from the conductor of his/her major performing ensemble attesting to citizenship, leadership abilities and general cooperation as an ensemble member.

Eligible students will be informed in the early fall and will then complete an initiation period. Once full membership criteria is completed students will be formally inducted in a special ceremony.
